On a sunny morning, in an unnoticed community in Guangzhou, Mr. Riccardo Sessa, Ambassador of Italy to China (left), Mr. Paolo Miraglia del Giudice, Consul General of Italy in Guangzhou (center), and Mr. Donato Scioscioli, Vice Consul of Italy in Guangzhou (right), paid a visit lasting over one hour, to the Huiling Lujing Road Integrated Kindergarten and the Huiling Sheltered Workshop.
Children from the kindergarten and the sheltered workshop performed a Chinese Martial Arts demonstration and Lion Dance for the honored guests from far away. Father Fernando Cagnin and Father Mario Marazzi introduced Huiling’s services to the Ambassador and other guests. The Ambassador expressed his appreciation of Huiling’s community service model and made a call to another NGO in Italy looking for collaboration. Hopefully this visit to Huiling will help to attract more and more support from abroad for disabled people in China.
Huiling has already developed and registered services in 8 cities throughout China. During Huiling’s evolution from the traditional institutional service model to the normal community service model, Huiling has received support from men and women from all walks of life, including many Italian organizations and individuals. Several Consul Generals of Italy have participated in various Huiling events during their terms of duty. They have acted as an example to other Italian citizens to support Huiling. We believe the friendship between Italy and China will continue to grow and look forward to seeing these opportunities extend to many more areas!
